Survey of the VCSE attitudes to PCCs

Nationally, SFC recently surveyed VCSE organisations on their attitudes towards PCCs.

There were 152 responses from VCSE organisations working across a wide range of police and crime areas, including half worked to reduce reoffending and 20% involved in support for victims.

Key findings from the survey included:

  • Three quarters of these organisations said PCC elections were an opportunity to influence policy.
  • Two thirds voted in the PCC elections in November, which is more than four-times the turnout of the general public.
  • Over two thirds of respondents were aware or very aware of their local SFC network.
  • Respondents were unequivocal about the high importance of PCCs working in partnership with local VCSEs (over 80%) and 51% said it was critically important.
