Our 2013 annual conference is sold out. Free for One East Midlands members; this year’s event focuses on the changing climate for VCS funding and investment - providing essential content for VCS organisations from across the region whatever your size or financial situation.
Shifting Sands will take a detailed look at shifts and trends in VCS income; the development of strategic funding streams, the growth and diversification of social investment and learning from social impact bond pilots.
The event will include a range of exciting speakers, an inspiring marketplace of ‘not the usual funders’ to explore, and a choice of great workshops to attend.
Why are we running this event?
One East Midlands work with local authorities, funders and funding advisors across the region regularly identifies that the region has failed to ensure take up of national funding streams and sources of investment.
Examples of under investment include low take up of social investment products, low success rates in securing infrastructure and growth investment, such as the Regional Growth Fund and support for localism and community rights projects funded by locality.
This conference will offer you a detailed look at what is changing in the world of funding and investment, what this means to you; the East Midlands VCS, and how we can all learn from what has worked here and what hasn’t.
The issues that will be debated at the conference are national but we will frame them in a local context so we can explore how variances can occur and what can be done to address them.
One East Midlands is in a great place to start this dialogue due to our strategic focus through the East Midlands Funding Advice Network and our national leadership role on VCS engagement with the 2014-20 EU funding programme. We would be delighted if you would join us.

Workshops
All delegates will be able to select two workshops to attend during their time at the conference, covering a range of issues related to VCS funding and investment. Workshops include:
- Social impact bonds – what they are, what can they achieve and how to set them up?
- Navigating the social investment market place
- Understanding the future of European funding – LEPs and Social Inclusion
- Changes to funding and commissioning support in health
In addition, there will be a specific workshop just for funders attending on the day, focusing on the growth of strategic investments and the coordination of funding for better outcomes.
