Changing Minds: Mental health and BME Communities

Organised by Communities UK and taking place on Tuesday 15 April from 9am to 3.35pm at Manchester Conference Centre, Changing Minds is a conference to raise awareness of mental health issues in BME communities.

Aimed at mental health professionals, voluntary sector workers and the public, the conference will focus on refugees and asylum seekers and mental health in later life.

The conference will include the following topics, as well as a choice of two workshops in the afternoon:

  • Mental health in later life: Dr Faisal Parvez – Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust
  • Refugees and asylum seekers: Dr Khatidja Chantler – University of Central Lancashire
  • Recovery in mental health: Tom McAlpine – Moodswings Network
  • Personal experiences: mental health voices.

The cost of the conference is £50 for the voluntary sector and students and £75 for the private sector and professionals. Lunch will be provided.
