New guide to impact reporting

The Principles of Good Impact Reporting, a guide to good impact reporting has been published by the Charity Finance Group, Acevo, New Philanthropy Capital, following consultation with charities and social enterprises. Alongside its accompanying guide, Principles into Practice, the publications describe the tools charities need to measure and report their impact. They aim to provide organisations of all sizes with a clear set of guidance on how they should communicate their impact, and what they should communicate. The guide states that to be effective charities must clearly communicate why they exist and what they want to achieve, what activities they are carrying out to meet those goals and what results they have had. They must also show effective evidence to support their conclusions, and what lessons they have learned from their work. These measures must be clear, accessible and transparent, accountable to stakeholders, verifiable by anyone interested and detailed enough to reflect the size and complexity of the organisation and its activities.
