The ERDF Annual Information Event: 2007-2013 Legacy and Lessons Learnt – Post event page

The One East Midlands and East Midlands Councils ERDF Annual Information Event took place on Tuesday 24th February 2015 at Devonshire Place (Leicester) marking the start of a new programme cycle of ERDF funding. This highly successful event attracted over 130 delegates from across the East Midlands, including representatives from the VCS, statutory and education sectors.

To ensure that delegates received optimum capacity building in the time provided, One East Midlands merged two events into a single comprehensive information day. As a result, delegates had the option to attend either or both the morning and afternoon sessions, which focus upon:

AM: Looking back to look forward

PM: Workshops - Lessons Learnt from 2007-2013 Programme

This event provided a unique opportunity for all stakeholders of the 2007-13 East Midlands ERDF programme to:

  • Come together to discover more about the current programme and its impact;
  • Hear from project leads about the successes and pitfalls they tackled during their project;
  • Build a greater understanding of the progress towards a live 2014-2020 programme;
  • Learn specifics on EU programme governance and equalities;
  • Determine the regional’s economic needs; and
  • Have the opportunity to begin shaping the future regional focus.

Overall, this event sought to:

  • Encourage delegates to focus upon a collaborative approach for project development and output activities as emphasised in the new programme;
  • Increase capacity and skills for the development and delivery of strong regional projects in the region - sharing practical tools, hints and tips through structured networking opportunities and practical workshops;
  • Increase awareness of achievements and challenges faced from successful ERDF projects in thematic areas of interest; and
  • Enable engagement with and between the Local Enterprise Partnerships and the Local Growth Team, with the aim of building contacts and networks for the next programme.

Speakers at the event included LMC deputy Chair Rachel Quinn, Mark Foley from DCLG East Midlands, Andrew Pritchard from East Midlands Councils and Rebecca Snow from Experian. In addition, delegates received an update on progress toward the next ERDF Programme (2014-2020) and heard from four ERDF projects in the region (Transport iNet, Medilink East Midlands, IRSA and Heritage Working for Business) on lesson learnt during the project.
