The voluntary and community sector has made significant contributions to health and wellbeing, often reaching areas and communities that have been difficult to reach by mainstream health and social care providers. One East Midlands aims to keep the voluntary and community sector informed about these changes and where possible contribute to policy and strategy development.

NHS England Offer: Three accredited on-line learning courses available for NHS volunteers - Closing date 24th February 2017

Patients/carers/public voice representatives who are currently volunteering in the NHS Patient representatives in roles that receive an honorarium from the NHS are also eligible to apply for these courses. The courses are delivered online for people to access at a time convenient to them.

Postcode Community Trust Grants

Postcode Community Trust support marginalised groups access skills and resources to affect change in their communities. The focus for 2017 year is on grass-roots community sport, arts, recreation, physical and mental health projects

FREE 2 day programme of advice, guidance & information for parents, carers and professionals called ‘Planning for the Future in Transition’.

Organised by County Carers Group, the programme offers advice guidance and information sessions on issues facing Children & Young People and Young People with Special Educational Needs 

East Midlands Patient Leadership Event - Patient Leadership Course on 16 February 2017 from 9.15 – 4.30 at Burleigh Court Hotel in Loughborough.

The East Midlands Leadership Academy and Academic Health Science Network Patient Leadership Programme: Training for ‘patient leadership’ is rare.  This course is aimed at patients, carers and public contributors, already involved with the healthcare system who want like to enhance their knowledge and skills in ‘patient leadership.’ You need to be nominated by a health and care organisation.
