Health and social care honour nominations

The Department of Health are seeking help with honour nominations for health and social care across all categories and at all award levels.

They believe that Honours are an important public recognition of the achievements of people who do extraordinary things. The country places a high value on the contribution of the NHS and the care system to people's health and well-being. Honours are a visible celebration of the success of people who really make a difference.

In particular, they welcome your support in finding suitable nominations for the British Empire Medal (BEM) award, which was reintroduced in 2012, to reward people who have done something exceptional early on in their career. The award targets mainly younger people who have achieved or contributed to a very hands-on service to the community in a local geographical area. This might take the form of sustained commitment in support of very local charitable and/or voluntary activity; or innovative work that has delivered real impact but that is relatively short in duration.

The Department of Health believe that there are many worthy people who support their communities and provide an exceptional service supporting health and social care. They need your help to ensure people like this do not go unnoticed but are recognised for the exceptional contribution they make.
