Lay and VCS representatives for support general practice improvement programme

The national primary medical services programme is establishing a steering group to help shape quality improvement in general practice.

The work of the group will focus on the assurance approach and quality indicator sets that are being developed for general practice, including the on-going development of a web-based interface providing GP data to support a national platform for peer review and benchmarking.

The steering group, comprising a range of stakeholders, will have focus on guidance to support good assurance management; policy for assurance management of primary medical services; a suite of General Practice High Level Indicators (for assurance management); a Suite of General Practice Outcome Standards (for quality improvement); Electronic Practice Profile and Electronic Practice Declaration; and the associated web interface at www.primarycare.nhs.uk.

The steering group is looking for four patient and public voice members, who have experience inputting into strategic policy or programme development. There are two places available for patient and voluntary sector organisations and two places for individual patients or carers.

For further information, to request an information and application pack and to apply, by the deadline of 12noon on Monday 8 July, email bozman@nhs.net.
