LASS 25 year history workshops – Thursday 11 July

Leicestershire AIDS Support Service (LASS), a member of the Health and Social Care Network, are marking the end of their Heritage Lottery Fund funded 25 year history project with two workshops at which they will hand over their archive to the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Record Office.

Both workshops will take place on Thursday 11 July with the morning workshop taking place from 10.15am to 12.30pm at LASS, The Michael Wood Centre, 53 Regent Street, Leicester LE1 6YF and the afternoon workshop taking place from 2.30pm to 4.45pm at The Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, Long Street, Wigston Magna, Leicester LE18 2AH. Both workshops will include lunch and refreshments.

Their guest speaker is Dr Richard McKay, Wellcome Trust Fellow in the Department of History at the University of Oxford, who will provide insights into his research on 30 years of AIDS as context for their local history.

LASS works with many partners locally, regionally and nationally in driving their messages on safe sex, HIV testing and living positively. The dynamics and demographics of HIV / AIDS have changed from the death sentence it was 25 years ago to the positive living approach that they promote as one of their services at LASS today.

Places on each workshop are limited to 25 people. To book for one or both of them email reception@lass.org.uk or telephone 0116 255 9995.
