Health and Social Care Staff Wellbeing Event – 18 March 2014

Public Health England is running this national event on the health and wellbeing of staff working in the NHS and social care sector on Tuesday 18 March at the Kia Oval, Kennington, London SE11 5SS.

Public Health England are aware that people in work are healthier and use health and care services less than the unemployed. However, work can also damage health and, without the right support, ill health and poor wellbeing can cause people to leave the workplace.

Evidence also suggests that staff wellbeing is a good predictor of patient experience, and that individuals are better able to deliver dignified, compassionate care if they are themselves well supported. Despite this, health and care staff tend to be more at risk of work-related ill health and sickness.

This event will bring together 150 professionals from across health and social care to consider why this is the case, what can be done about it and to build some consensus around next steps.
