Care Bill 2014 receives Royal Assent

Royal Assent has been granted to the Care Bill and as a result it is now the Care Act 2014.

The Act represents the most significant reform of care and support in over 60 years, putting people and their carers in control of their care and support and introducing a cap on how much people will have to pay for the costs of care in their lifetime.

It also delivers key elements of the Government’s response to the Francis Inquiry, establishes Health Education England and the Health Research Authority as statutory bodies, makes changes to the Trust Special Administrator’s regime and strengthens safeguards around sharing patient data.
