Commitment to Carers

NHS England, with input from charities and partner organisations, has committed to give carers the recognition and support they need.

With 1.4 million people providing 50 or more carer hours a week for a partner, friend or family member, carers make a significant contribution to society and the NHS.

In its Commitment to Carers document, NHS England sets out how it aims to help carers provide better care and to stay well themselves.

The document lists 37 commitments spread across eight key priorities, including raising the profile of carers, education and training, person-centred coordinated care and primary care.
