Complaints advocacy standards

Healthwatch England is leading a project to address the issues around complaints advocacy standards with the aim of establishing a set of principles for and developing a consumer-led ‘vision’ of good practice in complaints advocacy.

The work will also include proposing a new set of national standards, field-tested with consumers, providers and commissioners, for NHS complaints advocacy services.

Good quality support and complaints advocacy is crucial to enable people to raise concerns about health and social care. However, there is a lack of clarity among consumers, providers and commissioners around the expectations, standards and guidelines that complaints advocacy services must meet.
