Care.data – testing communication and engagement plans

Over recent months NHS England has been working with voluntary sector colleagues and other stakeholders to understand how the care.data programme can best support patients to make informed choices about sharing their data.

In addition, NHS England recently announced that it is going to work with GP-led clinical commissioning groups in four areas of the country to help develop the care.data programme as it moves into a ‘pathfinder stage’. The programme will be rolled out in participating GP surgeries in the CCG areas of Leeds North, West and South and East, Somerset, West Hampshire and Blackburn with Darwen.

NHS England would now like to test the communication and engagement plans developed for the pathfinder stage in relation to potentially excluded groups and follow up on the suggestions that have been made on how they can work through voluntary sector channels and networks.

NHS England have arranged a webinar where they will outline the plans, clarify questions, and seek further input, expertise and knowledge that will inform approaches for the pathfinders, on Thursday 6 November from 1pm to 2.30pm, focusing on communication and engagement with other potentially excluded groups.

To attend the webinars or if you unable to make the dates but would like to review the plans and feedback via email or a conversation with one of the programme team, contact Bethany Plummer at bethany.plummer@nhs.net or on 0113 825 3279.
