The voluntary and community sector has made significant contributions to health and wellbeing, often reaching areas and communities that have been difficult to reach by mainstream health and social care providers. One East Midlands aims to keep the voluntary and community sector informed about these changes and where possible contribute to policy and strategy development.

Each of the regional networks that compose Regional Voices have produced a “Who’s Who” guide to key people working in health, wellbeing and care in each region. The guides include relevant people from clinical commissioning groups, health and wellbeing boards, CQC, NHS England area teams, commissioning support units and local Healthwatch.

Understanding and Using Skilled for Health - Leicester

Taking place on Wednesday 10 July or Tuesday 10 September in Leicester, Understanding and using Skilled for Health is a one day workshop providing an introduction to their national Health Literacy embedded learning resources. 

LASS 25 year history workshops – Thursday 11 July

Leicestershire AIDS Support Service (LASS), a member of the Health and Social Care Network, are marking the end of their Heritage Lottery Fund funded 25 year history project with two workshops at which they will hand over their archive to the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Record Office.

NHS pricing and incentives engagement workshop – 9 July, Leicester

From 2014/15, NHS England and Monitor will have joint responsibility for the payment system for NHS funded care. Their partnership is relatively new, but they have been working together over the past year to understand how the payment system shapes NHS care and how we may develop it over time. At the same time, NHS England is undertaking a review of its incentives, rewards and sanctions, to ensure these align with the payment system and support continuous improvement in quality.
 

Workshops to launch A guide for individual employers: supporting your personal assistant to gain the skills they need

Skills for Care will be holding a number of half day workshops across England, including in Birmingham on Tuesday 2 July, Manchester on Thursday 11 July and Cambridge on Thursday 18 July, to introduce a new guide providing a framework for learning and development for individual employers and their personal assistants.

Bringing children and young people to the heart of Healthwatch

For the past three years the National Children’s Bureau has been championing Local Involvement Networks (LINks) and local Healthwatch pathfinders to engage with children and young people.
